Things are good and getting better for the Vets for McCain Organization in Virginia. One out of every nine people in Virginia is a Veteran of the Armed Forces--and they are flocking to support the McCain/Palin ticket in droves.
Overwhelmingly, Virginia Veterans believe that Obama, and his wife Michelle, have a misguided understanding of what it means to be a Veteran and what it means to selflessly serve your country--without the promise of return benefit. Veterans, unlike the Obama's, get involved with politics to accomplish something--not to become somebody.
Small town Virginia Veterans especially distrust and despise Obama. Why? Could it be comments like this from Barack Obama:
"You go into these small towns...and they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."
These small towns are EVERYTHING that a Veteran is fighting for. These towns represent THE United States to many veterans. These towns are WORTH serving your country for and they are worth dying to protect. Many Virginia Veterans have died because they want to protect THE United States that they know---Main Street, County Fairs, High School Football Games, Fresh Squeezed Lemonade, hanging out at the Auto Parts store, tubing down the river, and late night loitering in the Dairy Queen parking lot. Obama doesn't understand why Virginia Veterans selflessly sacrifice for their country. Obama is intolerant and indignant about the manner in which others happily live life in towns with populations of less than 30,000 people--towns not at all like Chicago, Jakarta, or Hawaii.
MICHELLE OBAMA doesn't get how Veterans sacrifice for their country either. Michelle Obama said that she only became proud of the United States when her husband started winning primaries against Hillary Rodham Clinton. To wit:
"For the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country."
Michelle Obama only BECAME proud of her country when something political was given to her husband. She wasn't proud of her country when Veterans started coming home in body bags from Afghanistan after sacrificing themselves to fight against the Taliban. These veterans actually took an oath to support and defend the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. While Michelle Obama's husband, Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Hussein Obama, was serving on a Bank Board with Bill Ayers, the man who was convicted of bombing the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol, the Veterans of Virginia were serving in places like Grenada, Panama, and the European Theater facing down the Soviet Threat.
Virginia Veterans served in the Armed Forces of the United States for love of country. The Obama's serve the Democratic Party for the benefit of themselves.
The Obama's narcissism is only slightly eclipsed by their unique practice of palatial aggrandizement. This is the "change" that the Obama's want to bring to the United States and Virginia Veterans see right through it. Veterans, and all of America, knows Emperor Obama has a temple, but he has no clothes. Obama's Cult of Personality meshes nicely with his social relativism. How may we--those of us who have made the sacrifice and risked it all--how may we serve a couple who has risked nothing but wants everything?

Mark this down on your calendars, tonight August 29, 2008, Michael Moore appeared as a guest on the Keith Olberman show on MSNBC.
Olberman, realizing that today is the third anniversary of Hurricane Catrina hitting New Orleans, asked Michale Moore for his thoughts about Hurricane Gustav possibly hitting the Gulf Coast on the start of the Republican Convention (Gustav is due to make landfall on Monday or Tuesday of this week).
Michale Moore said, "There is a God."
Olberman didn't bat an eye at this comment. Olberman didn't rebuke Moore for wanting a Hurricane to again hit the still devastated region of the Gulf Coast.
Later in the show, Olberman mocked McCain for saying that we are now winning the war in Iraq despite that country having over sixty some suicide bombings within the last month. Olberman mocked McCain for ignoring a loss of life and Olberman went on to equate this to McCain being out of touch with the reality in Iraq.
Olberman didn't rebuke Michael Moore for wanting God to direct Hurricane Gustav to hit the Gulf Coast region--a natural disaster that WOULD CASE A LOSS OF LIFE. Olberman was sitting right beside Michael Moore and kept his mouth shut. Yet, Olberman had the audacity to say that McCain actually thinks that deaths in Iraq equate to success. Olberman has gone mental, gone, gone, gone.

EXCLUSIVE TO THE VIRGINIA BLOGOSPHERE......
The above picture is that of Mr. James J. Yee (center), also known as Youssef Yee.
Mr. Yee is a Disgraced Chaplain (Captain) who formerly served in the United States Army. Mr. James J. Yee, also known as Youssef Yee, was detained in September 2003 on a return flight from Guantanamo Bay where he was serving as the Imam for detainees at Guantanamo Bay. He was detained for possible espionage. It was reported that investigators found what appeared to be sketches or diagrams of the prisoner facilities at Guantánamo in his possession and classified documents in his possession. Mr. Yee converted to Islam, went to Syria for an unknown time period, returned to the U.S. and then joined the Army.
All charges against Yee were dropped as the military feared exposure of certain sensitve information during a trail. Here is a quote from USA Today on the subject: "When the Army dropped six criminal counts against Yee in March, military officials said they did so to avoid making sensitive information public — not because he was innocent. An Army general stressed that again in April, when he took the unusual step of removing the case from Yee's permanent military record."
Yee has made some harsh comments about Guantanamo over the years and wrote a book about the subject....we were shocked to find him at the Democrat National Convention. The attached picture of Mr. Lee was taken as he was on the floor of the Democratic National Convention listening to former President Bill Clinton addressing the convention on Wednesday night, August 27, 2008.
Mr. Yee committed the alleged espionage when a Virginia Based National Guard Unit was in charge of detainee security, known as Camp Delta, at Gitmo. That Virginia based National Guard Unit was then known as the 2-116th Infantry of the 29th Infantry Division. This unit was formerly based out of Lynchburg and Charlottesville area of Virginia. That unit has since merged with the 183rd Calvary Unit that is based out of Tidewater, VA.
Here is the story of Yee's Detention
Here are the stories of the charges being dropped against Yee
TODAY, OBAMA'S DENVER ORACLE WILL REVEAL ADDITIONAL PLAGERISIM IN JOE BIDEN'S PAST

The mainstream media is covering for Joe Biden on the plagerisim issue. Joe Biden is a serial plageriser (going back to his college days) who wants to be in charge of giving grants to major universities while also being responsible for overseeing billions in student loans to college students?
Well, your beloved MAXIMUS won't let this issue slip easily into the night.
From Famous Plagerists DOT COM:
Link here: http://www.famousplagiarists.com/politics.htm#biden
"In 1965 Biden plagiarized while writing a paper as a student at the Syracuse University Law School in a legal methods course which he failed because of that copied paper. Such “stressless scholarship” as it is euphemistically called has become all too common in the modern Internet era with countless cheatsites and “research services” offering to sell students papers on topics from A to Z.
Joe Biden’s history of plagiarism and “stressless scholarship” gave plenty of ammo to his enemies, one of them choosing to circulate a so-called “attack video” to demonstrate Biden’s outright plagiarism of a British politician’s speech. But this appropriation from Neal Kinnock was not the first occurrence of unacknowledged lifting by the senator from Delaware.
Biden’s case demonstrates that student plagiarism is nothing new. Only the methods of cheating have changed. Today, cheating has gone digital with the proliferation of Internet based paper filing and distributions systems, but the principles—or lack thereof—are the same. And as the Biden case illustrates, getting caught for such academic dishonesty may have serious ramifications for one’s political career. Joe Biden’s failed bid for the Democratic ticket [for President in 1987] is a case in point."
Can Tim Kaine become a University President while supporting a Plagerist for the office of Vice President of the United States?

It is widely being reported that Virginia Governor Tim Kaine is interested in succeding Eugene Trani as President of Virginia Commonwealth University.
Link here and here:
Tim Kaine openly supports Joe Biden for the Vice Presidency of the United States of America. Joe Biden was proven to be a plagerist in copying a speech from then British labor leader Neil Kinnock without attribution. This plagerisim was so bad that it forced Joe Biden from the Democratic Presidential nomination race in 1987. Link here: http://www.famousplagiarists.com/politics.htm#biden
1.) Joe Biden is a Vice Presidential Candidate who has admitted, or has been caught in the act of plagerisim on multiple occasions
2.) Tim Kaine supports Biden to become the next Vice President of the United States
3.) Tim Kaine wants to become President of Virginia Commonwealth University
Why does the VCU honor code (along with other University Regulations) contain provisions that allow for the expulsion of student plagerists while failing to ontain provisions against the hiring of potential University Presidents who openly support plagerists? The VCU Board of Visitors will hire the next University President to replace Eugene Trani
4.) Will the VCU Board of Visitors hire a new University President who openly endorses a serial plagerist to become the next Vice President of the United States?

Who is Max Headroom? Who is Mitt Romney?
The Max Headroom Show 1985-1986,
The Mitt Romney Show, 2007-2008,
The Max Headroom character originated in 1985-86 as an announcer for a music video programme on the British television channel, Channel 4, called The Max Headroom Show. The intent was to portray a futuristic computer-generated character. Max Headroom appeared as a stylized head on TV against harsh primary color rotating-line backgrounds, and he became well known for his jerky techno-stuttering speech, wisecracks, and puns ("Like they say when you're buying suppositories, 'With friends like that, who needs enemas?'"). The Original Max Talking Headroom Show was made by Cinemax in 1987. The [Mitt Romney] character presents a dystopic look at a run-down near-future dominated by television and large corporations. The growing pains of the new Democratic Leadership apparatus is becoming more apparent. There is a huge fight for the heart and soul of the National Democratic Party.
The old guard, led by the Clinton machine, is not going quietly into the night. The new guard, led by Barack Hussein Obama and Mark Warner (among others) are not backing down.
Here is what I am telling you: The jockeying and speaker order at tonight's DNC Convention for the various speeches show that the Clinton's were none to happy about Mark Warner being selected as key note speaker. You see, the Clinton's are losing their grip on the National Party apparatus and they are not happy. They woke up too late during the sure thing Presidential primary to be able to beat Obama to the nomination. Obama was basically running on Mark Warner's political plan for President, albeit with a few modifications. Once Warner dropped out of the Presidential race to focus on the Virginia Senate seat, the anti Clinton folks needed a candidate to rally around. Tim Kaine, Mark Warner's Virginia protege, was first to line up behind Obama. Coincidence there? Tim Kaine served as Mark Warner's proxy in support of Obama in the whole Democratic Presidential Primary Contest.
So, the Clintons were beaten, check that, ambushed by the Obama/Warner/Kaine team. Hillary was not selected as Obama's Vice Presidential candidate because these folks, representing opposite wings of the Democratic Party, ARE engaged in mortal combat for control of the Democratic Party. Folks, the Warner and Kaine teams have been heavily and hugely involved with the Obama Presidential Efforts from the start. The Clinton's are still red faced pissed off and fighting mad at Warner and crew.
Obama let Mark Warner deliver the Keynote Address at this year's DNC Convention, the same 2008 Convention that was held to nominate a Democratic candidate for President. This is a typical launching pad for the NEXT Democratic rising star. Obama passed the baton to Warner as a thank you for Warner/Kaine's efforts in support of his successful Presidential nomination. The problem? During the keynote address in front of the DNC, Warner could not go partisan against John McCain because one out of every nine people in Virginia (where Warner is running for Senator this year) is a veteran. McCain is to Veterans as Pope John Paul II is to Catholics. Mark Warner couldn't give the red meat speech against John McCain or Republicans in general. That is not his style and it would have killed his Senate race in Virginia...he can't be seen as aligning himself too closely with Obama else he ticks off the Virginia Veteran community. Sure, Warner can and does play hardball behind the scenes against his political opponents (Democrat and Republican), but he will not do it on a national stage espicially when he is running in Virginia--where McCain is hugely popular with Veterans who reflexively vote for the GOP.
So, the Clinton folks, sensing that Obama prefers Warner as the future of the Democratic Party over them, are out for blood against Warner/Kaine/Obama. Some of it they have to keep low. Some of it they can deliver through their surrogates. With all of that in mind, read what Howard Wolfson (Hillary's campaign hit man and a Clinton loyalist from way back) said regarding Mark Warner's keynote speech at the 2008 Democratic National Convention: "The best part about Mark Warner's speech was that is was short."
And then there's this from Paul Begala, a Clinton operative from Texas who was an integral player/operative on all of Bill Clinton's Presidential campaigns: "Mark Warner wasn't talking to the Chamber of Commerce in Richmond, VA." Begala is now a resident of Mclean, VA.
So, in order to wrest the spotlight from Mark Warner as the keynote speaker at tonight's DNC, the Clinton people are out there bad mouthing him on network television and print media. The Clinton people, even in defeat, are doing everything they can to destroy the future seeds of success that Obama is trying to plant within the Democratic Party in an effort to position Hillary as the Presidential nominee in the future should Obama fail to win the White House this year. The Clinton operatives wanted Tuesday night's DNC Convention to be about Hillary's position in the future, not Mark Warner's. So, in essence, Hillary Clinton gave the keynote speech at tonight's DNC and she supplanting Mark Warner as Obama's hand picked keynote speaker. Did she ask for permission? Nope, but the Clinton's make things about themselves first, second, and third. Hillary gave a speech that was all about her. Mark Warner gave a speech talking about the future and new age policy positions--what the MSM lovingly refers to as post partisan politics. Team Clinton, Hillary in particular, refuses to go quietly into the night. The Clinton team is trying to establish that the future of the DNC does not belong to Mark Warner or team Obama--even though Warner helped to wrest control of the Democratic party from the Clinton's while delivering it to Obama.
The Clinton's are out for blood against Mark Warner, now and in the future. Warner isn't shying away from the fight, read this from his speech tonight:
"As Governor of Virginia, it was humbling to occupy a position that was once held by Thomas Jefferson. Almost as daunting as delivering the keynote speech four years after Barack Obama... Or speaking before Hillary Clinton.
Towards the end of his life, Thomas Jefferson - the founder of our party - wrote one of his frequent letters to his old rival, John Adams. He complained about the aches of getting old, but what was on his mind was what life would be like for the next generation of Americans. As Jefferson was ready to go to sleep, he closed his letter by writing: "I like the dreams of the future better than the history of the past."
Jefferson got it right at the dawn of the 19th century, and it's our challenge to get it right at the dawn of the 21st. This race is all about the future. That's why we must elect Barack Obama as our next President. Because the race for the future will be won when old partisanship gives way to new ideas. When we put solutions over stalemates, and when hope replaces fear."
Tonight, Mark Warner compared himself to Thomas Jefferson while comparing Hillary Clinton to John Adams. This is rich folks. Warner has already schooled the Clinton's by helping Obama to get the nomination. In 2008, I never would have believed that Hillary, the modern day John Adams, would join Conservative Republicans in working to elect John McCain President of the United States. Cleary, this is the case. Enjoy the show.

Politico's John F. Harris and Mike Allen,
'Tensions boil between Obama-Clinton camps': 'One flashpoint is the assigned speech topic for former president Bill Clinton, who is scheduled to speak Wednesday night, when the convention theme is 'Securing America's Future.' ...The former president is disappointed, associates said, because he is eager to speak about the economy and more broadly about Democratic ideas - emphasizing the contrast between the Bush years and his own record in the 1990s. ... 'After a period earlier this month when the two sides were working collegially over strategy, scheduling, and other convention logistics, things turned scratchy again in recent days. ... One senior Obama supporter said the Clinton associates negotiating on her behalf act like 'Japanese soldiers in the South Pacific still fighting after the war is over.' ...'A prominent Obama backer said some of Clinton's lieutenants negotiating with the Obama team are 'bitter enders' who presume that, rather than the Clintons reconciling themselves to Obama's victory, it is up to Obama to accommodate them. In fact, some senior veterans of Clinton's presidential campaign do believe this. ...

Did I mention that Obama made an excellent choice by not picking Virginia Governor Tim Kaine as his running mate?
Here are two more points to consider as to why Kaine was left off the ticket:
On today's "FOX NEWS SUNDAY" Tim Kaine hailed the fact Joe Biden was anointed to serve as Obama's ticket as the Vice Plagiarizer Candidate. If you understand or get that joke, click on this link to get up to speed: http://yankeephilip.blogspot.com/2008/08/birds-of-feather.html
Kaine went onto say that Virginia shares a border with Delaware and for that reason, Biden will be a good draw for Virginia voters. Fact is that Delaware DOES NOT border Virginia. There is a state called Maryland that separates the two on the Delmarva Peninsula (the Eastern Shore). Kaine proves to be geographically challenged. Is Tim smarter than a 5th grader? Has he taken the SOL's lately?
Kaine also said he needs a better partner in Washington. President Bush brought in 10,000 jobs to Fort Lee and 20,000 jobs to Fort Belvoir in Fairfax. Bush single handily added over four billion to the Virginia economy--the largest positive economic impact to the Virginia economy in the last decade. Timmy can't bring himself to mention it, but its the military growth that drives the Virginia economy upward---not the big Labor Union bosses that Kaine is beholden to.
Is Tim Kaine Smarter than a Fifth Grader? Nope, but that definitely qualifies him to be on the short list of Democratic Vice Presidential Candidates!

The Democratic National Convention starts next Monday. The Washington Post is reporting that sources close to Virgina Democratic Governor Tim Kaine was told yesterday that he was not going to be the Vice Presidential ticket mate of Barack Hussein Obama. Link here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/08/22/AR2008082202689.html?hpid=topnews
The WP is reporting that at this moment, Virginia Governor Tim Kaine is in Denver, Colorado prepping for the Democratic National Convention that starts this Monday. Why exactly is Kaine in Colorado now instead of working with the Virginia legislature to solve the $1 BILLION BUDGET SHORTFALL, or the TRANSPORTATION CRISIS, or the CHILD CARE CRISIS, or the DRILLING OFFSHORE CRISIS? Simple, Kaine puts politics before good governance.
Governor Tim Kaine didn't get picked to run as Vice President because he doesn't know how to prioritize or solve important issues for the citizens he promised to effectively serve.
According to Fox News Analyst Dick Morris, in not choosing Tim Kaine as his Vice Presidential running mate: "Obama decided he didn't need a playmate, he needed someone who knows where the men's room is in the White House." Heck, can anyone really say that Kaine ever found the men's room in the Governor's Mansion?
Aside from lack of experience on National Defense and Foreign Affairs, Kaine was not chosen because as Governor he has failed to effectively produce results. Is it too much to ask that a Governor have at least one successful policy initiative before being elevated as a candidate for the Vice Presidency? Not at all. I'm glad Obama agrees with me here.
If Kaine can't swim in the deep end of the pool in Virgina, how can he keep his head above water in Washington D.C.? The closest Kaine gets to the White House is visiting his son at George Washington University.

HELLO GOVERNOR McDONNELL!!!
Posted by ccMAXIMUS at 8:58 PM
From the AP:
Japanese scientists said Friday they had derived stem cells from wisdom teeth, opening another way to study deadly diseases without the ethical controversy of using embryos. ....Researchers at the government-backed National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology said they created stem cells of the type found in human embryos using the removed wisdom teeth of a 10-year-old girl. ....."This is significant in two ways," team leader Hajime Ogushi told AFP. "One is that we can avoid the ethical issues of stem cells because wisdom teeth are destined to be thrown away anyway. ....."Also, we used teeth that had been extracted three years ago and had been preserved in a freezer. That means that it's easy for us to stock this source of stem cells." .....The announcement follows the groundbreaking discovery by US and Japanese scientists last year that they could produce stem cells from skin, a finding that was hailed by the Vatican and US President George W. Bush. .....Research involving embryonic stem cells -- which can develop into various organs or nerves -- is seen as having the potential to save lives by helping find cures for diseases such as cancer and diabetes. ...But studies on embryos are strongly opposed by religious conservatives, who argue that such research destroys human life, albeit at its earliest stage of development. ...In the new research, cells were extracted from the wisdom teeth and developed for about 35 days. ....The researchers then tested them and found that they were stem cells, which can develop into various other kinds of human cells, Ogushi said. ...As with last year's skin cell discovery, the Japanese researchers said it would take time to put the use of wisdom teeth into practical use. ...Ogushi estimated it would take at least five years to put the method into clinical use such as trial treatments of congenital bone disease. ..."Because extractions of wisdom teeth are commonly operated in dental clinics, we can expect a lot of donors of stem cells," he said. ..."That enable us to create stem cells of various genetic codes, eliminating the risk that a body of a patient would reject transplanted tissues or organs," he added. ....He was hopeful that the method would produce stem cells of various genetic codes -- reducing the risk that patients' bodies would reject transplanted tissues or organs. ...Theoretically, people who give up their wisdom teeth in their youth could use the stem cells later in life if they need treatment. ...The research takes points from last year's skin cell breakthrough, which was a collaborative effort by researchers at Kyoto University and the University of Wisconsin at Madison. ...The Kyoto University team, led by Shinya Yamanaka, generated human stem cells by introducing four genes into a sample of human skin.
The California Supreme Court, which recently legalized same-sex marriage, has ruled by a 7-0 vote that homosexual rights trump religious freedom. The ruling barred doctors, because of their Christian beliefs, from withholding unnecessary medical care to gays and lesbians. The ruling says that under state law sexual orientation rights trump religious freedom....Justice Joyce Kennard wrote in the ruling that two Christian fertility doctors who refused to artificially inseminate a lesbian have neither a free speech right nor a religious exemption from the state's law, which "imposes on business establishments certain antidiscrimination obligations."...Doctors at the Christian clinic referred the lesbian to another clinic, but the lesbian refused their referral - demanding that the Christian clinic perform the procedure. When the Christian doctors refused to violate their religious convictions, the lesbian sued and the Supreme Court gave her the victory.....This ruling will affect every business in California. If a similar victory in a federal court is won, every business in America will be affected. ....For example: Alabama Fertility Specialists (AFS) has begun a campaign to bring Honda of Alabama to its knees because Honda will not cover artificial insemination for a lesbian in it’s insurance.....Honda advised their insurance carrier to "exclude domestic partners (same-sex partners) from ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology) benefits including diagnostic services related to fertility/infertility..."
Why can't a doctor refer a patient to another doctor when a procedure interferes with their religious belief....because the liberal gay and lesbian right groups think their rights are not equal but trump the rights of others (namely Christians)groups who oppose them.....this is scary stuff... Christians (whether liberal or conservative should see this ruling as a dangerous precedent for religious freedom in the U.S. and for the world. We cannot let the courts dictate our rights, as Christians, for our rights are just as protected under the Constitution as any other group looking for equal protection. Giving in and not standing up tothe the religous persecution that is happening more and more in the United States is to , in effect, deny your belief in God and his son Jesus Christ. Check out more on the American Family Association website at http://www.afa.net/
Young evangelical backs out of convention prayer...doesn't want role to be construed as an endorsement
By the AP:
'Cameron Strang, the 32-year-old editor of edgy and hip Relevant Magazine, had second thoughts and pulled out of delivering the benediction on the convention's first night, Monday. Citing fears that his bridge-building gesture would be wrongly construed as an endorsement, Strang said he instead hopes to take a lower-profile role, participating in a convention caucus meeting on religion later in the week. ... Little known to outsiders, the Strang name carries weight with evangelicals, especially in the fast-growing charismatic and Pentecostal branches. ... He was on the guest list when religious leaders met with Obama in June in Chicago ...'The convention's schedule is studded with faith-themed events, including the first interfaith gathering to open a Democratic convention. Those delivering invocations and benedictions during the four-night convention include a Greek Orthodox archbishop, a Catholic nun, a rabbi from Judaism's Reform tradition and Joel Hunter, a Republican and Florida megachurch pastor who has made the environment a signature issue. ...
From the New York Times:
'The United States has agreed to remove combat troops from Iraqi cities by next June and from the rest of the country by the end of 2011 if conditions in Iraq remain relatively stable, according to Iraqi and American officials involved in negotiating a security accord governing American forces there. withdrawal timetables, which Bush administration officials called 'aspirational goals' rather than fixed dates, are contained in the draft of an agreement that still must be approved by Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki and other Iraqi leaders before it goes before Iraq's fractious Parliament. It has the support of the Bush administration, American and Iraqi officials said.'
From the New York Times:
'People close to the [McCain] campaign also floated a wild-card choice, Gen. David H. Petraeus, the top American commander in Iraq. They said it was not beyond the realm of possibility that Mr. McCain would ask him to join the ticket, although General Petraeus has no experience in elective government and has said repeatedly that he is not interested in the vice presidency.'
...although I don't think that hold a 48 year old to something he wrote way back in college is always prudent this may be a exception....due mostly to the lack of papers authored by Obama and the topic of this opinion paper. From Politico:
'As president of the Harvard Law Review and a law professor in Chicago, Senator Barack Obama refined his legal thinking, but left a scant paper trail. His name doesn't appear on any legal scholarship. But an unsigned - and previously unattributed - 1990 article unearthed by Politico offers a glimpse at Obama's views on abortion policy and the law during his student days, and provides a rare addition to his body of work.........'The six-page summary, tucked into the third volume of the year's Harvard Law Review, considers the charged, if peripheral, question of whether fetuses should be able to file lawsuits against their mothers. Obama's answer, like most courts': No. He wrote approvingly of an Illinois Supreme Court ruling that the unborn cannot sue their mothers for negligence, and he suggested that allowing fetuses to sue would violate the mother's rights and could, perversely, cause her to take more risks with her pregnancy. ...'When Politico reporters working on a story about Obama's law review presidency earlier this year asked if he had written for the review, a spokesman responded accurately - but narrowly - that 'as the president of the Law Review, Obama didn't write articles, he edited and reviewed them.' The case comment was published a month before he became president. ...'The Obama campaign swiftly confirmed Obama's authorship of the fetal rights article Thursday after a source told Politico he'd written it. The campaign also provided a statement on Harvard Law Review letterhead confirming that the unsigned piece was Obama's - the only record of the anonymous authors is kept in the office of the Review president - and that records showed it was the only piece he'd written for the Review.'
or lukewarm criticism for Obama from the MSM...From the Economist:
'Even though the Republican brand is as contaminated as a Soviet-era reactor, and 80% of Americans think the country is on the wrong track, Mr Obama is barely ahead of his septuagenarian Republican rival. ....'Mr Obama could certainly tone down the triumphalism: opting to make his acceptance speech not in the convention hall but in a 75,000-seater sports stadium seems like another mistake, akin to his hubristic rock-star's tour of Europe. He needs to be a lot clearer and firmer about how he will deal with America's foes and rivals: his first instinct when Russia invaded Georgia was to waffle. Acknowledging that the Iraq surge, which he tried to block, has worked would also be a sign of tough-mindedness. Most of all, he needs to spend those 68 days showing that he understands, and can connect with, ordinary Americans.'

Move over Louis Farrakhan, you're no longer the biggest Muslim name supporting Barack Hussein Obama.
Who then? Muhammad Ali is all set to make an appearance to endorse Barack Hussein Obama at the Democratic National Convention in Colorado.
Try this on for a primer about Muhammad Ali:
"In 1964, Cassius Clay joined the Nation of Islam and changed his name to Muhammad Ali. Citing his Islamic faith, Ali refused to serve in the U.S. military during the war in Vietnam; he refused to cooperate with the draft. Ali was sentenced to five years in prison for draft evasion. In May of 1967, he was stripped of his title and boxing license by the World Boxing Association. At the time, Ali told the press, "I ain't got no quarrel with them Viet-Cong."
Further, doing much to keep the Nation of Islam popular in the black community after the assassination of Malcolm X in 1965. He figured in the writings of such important 1960s black literary figures as Amiri Baraka Eldridge Cleaver, Malcolm X, and Larry Neal."
Yes, here the boxing thing about Ali: "[he] was the dominant heavyweight fighter of the 1960s and 1970s. A fighter of exceptional speed, cunning and flair, Ali won the world heavyweight title on three separate occasions over a span of 15 years."
Muhammad Ali said that Malcolm X "...was a good speaker. He was fearless. He helped me to come to Islam." Muhammad Ali sought guidance and counsel from Malcolm X, whom he met several times. Just before Muhammad Ali's fight with Liston, Malcolm advised Ali to remember David and Goliath. Muhammad Ali accepted and practices the same form of Islam that Malcolm X did.
What irony. Ali, a known Viet Cong sympathiser, will speak at the Democratic National Convention next week--in support of John McCain's opponent, Barack Hussein Obama. McCain was tortured by the Viet Cong for years. Why does Obama insist on playing this game with McCain?

Earlier today during Barack Hussein Obama's celebrity visit to Chester, VA, he talked about the horrible economy.
More specifically, Obama said that he would help struggling families in Chesterfield County. According to the Richmond Times Dispatch: "Obama went straight into remarks about the economy, saying that Americans are understandably anxious."
The paper goes on to say, "On the economy, Obama said that when Bill Clinton was president, the average family income went up $6,000. During President Bush's administration, he said, it has come down $1,000."
Link to the story here: http://www.inrich.com/cva/ric/news.PrintView.-content-articles-RTD-2008-08-21-0157.html
The problem with Obama's remarks? For starters, the venue where he delivered them. The Bush Administration recently awarded 10,000 new jobs to the Chester area--to be located at nearby Fort Lee--the Logistics Capitol of the United States Army. The present economic impact from Fort Lee and the nearby Defense Supply Center Richmond is appx. $1 Billion per year--that's without the addition of the new 10,000 jobs. With the addition of the jobs at Fort Lee, estimates are that an additional
$1 Billion to the local economy each year. Note to Obama, it helps to know the area in which your speaking. Chester ain't Detroit.
Obama was joined onstage by Governor Tim Kaine. Kaine who declined to tell Obama about the economic growth in the area--growth brought about by President Bush and Republican Congressman J. Randy Forbes.
Obama had the opportunity to talk to Virginian's about issues of importance to them. He chose not to speak about the biggest job creation in the history of Central Virginia. Governor Kaine had the opportunity to talk about the wonderful news of economic growth in the very state he governs. They made a choice not to talk about the biggest business development in the area in modern times.
Obama is out of touch with folks in Central Virginia. A speech that works and rings true in Detroit, Michigan doesn't hold water in Chester, VA. You would think Obama has the political experience to know this. You would think Governor Tim Kaine would have given Obama a briefing about the economic conditions of the area. Clearly, Kaine failed to do so. What else would you expect from a Virginia Governor who has failed to respond to over eight invitations to attend various job growth announcements at Fort Lee? Tim Kaine has no respect for the military at all and he refuses to step foot on Fort Lee to this day to acknowledge the job growth.
Today, Obama and Tim Kaine tried to convince folks in Chesterfield County that their future is bleak and hopeless. The addition of 10,000 new jobs in the area proves otherwise. Instead of thanking President Bush for bringing increased employment opportunity into our area, Obama and Tim Kaine were bashing President Bush. Sure, all is not well with the country, but shouldn't a Presidential candidate and his National Co-Chairman (who is also Governor) actually know about the positive and regional economic conditions of the area where they are speaking before commenting negatively about the area's business climate?
For the record, on their way to this mornings speech at John Tyler Community College in Chester, Obama and Governor Kaine went right by...DROVE RIGHT ON PAST the McGuire Veterans Administration Hospital without stopping to see wounded troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. After finishing the speech in Chester, Obama and Kaine then left to make their way to Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, VA. In order to get there, Obama and Governor Kaine drove right on past Fort Lee, Virginia without stopping in to greet recently returned troops from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Obama and Kaine care more about politics than people. Obama and Kaine passed up on the chance to thank wounded combat troops at the McGuire Veterans Hospital--they instead chose to drive right on by while chatting up Timmy's chances of being selected Vice President. Obama and Kaine put politics before country. They talk about negativisim instead of optimisim. Today they sold snake oil to students instead of selling hope to crippled Veterans. I guess that makes them a natural team.

Typical DNC...Don't actually fix the homeless issue in Denver, just give them haricuts so they appear better
From the The L.A. Times:
'Denver's homeless get free haircuts to look good for Obama and his Democrats ... According to Rick Sallinger of the CBS TV station, Denver Human Services has been handing out coupons for free homeless haircuts. The idea was to make the homeless feel better about themselves. And maybe then they'd get jobs or something.'

Folks are arriving early....lots of Chesterfield's finest are on the premises. The curiously odd thing here is this: Guests are required to arrive early, not surprising due to security checks, etc...but of the vehicles in the parking lot (about 150 so far), close to 100 of them have windshield decals that identify the vehicles as being from the City of Richmond or Henrico County. Some of the vehicles don't have stickers, so its hard to tell what locality they are from.
But, I will say this: Why are Obama and Tim Kaine having an event in the heart of Republican Country in Virginia when the majority of attendees are from heavily Democratic jurisdictions? Seems that Obama and Kaine are going for a falsely designed message of contrived support. Instead of holding today's rally in heavily Republican Chester and busing in Democrats from 40 miles away, why didn't they just hold today's event in the City of Richmond where the Democrats didn't have to drive as far to attend?
So far, close to 70% of the attendees at the Obama Rally at John Tyler Community College in Chester, VA are not even from Chesterfield County, but they are from Richmond, Henrico, and Petersburg--Democratic jurisdictions all. Curious, but clearly in having today's event in Chester, Obama is trying to show a false round of support in a Republican area by primarily stocking the event with Democrats from other localities. Net, net: false show of support in a 65% Republican area.

Tomorrow, Barack Hussein Obama takes his fairytale--dare we say quixotic--campaign for President of the United States to the core Republican areas of Virginia's 4th Congressional District. Where? The City of Chesapeake and the Chester area of Chesterfield County.
Who are these folks that Obama is targeting for support? The fair minded voters of the City of Chesapeake recently wrested control of the City Council from Democrat/Liberal control--returning it to Republican majority control. When placed in charge of Chesapeake City Council, Chesapeake Democrats reigned during a time when huge increases in the local real estate tax rates caused a citizen revolt against government spending. Chesapeake, home to Incumbent Republican Congressman J. Randy Forbes, has three times as many Republicans leglislators representing the City in the state legislature than Democrats. Republicans control all but one of the Constitutional Offices in Chesapeake as well. There is a HUGE concentration of Veterans in this area as well--with many residents being retirees of the Navy. Virginia Veterans overwhelmingly support McCain over Obama by 70% to 30%. Also, more active duty military troops from this area of Virgina have given given money to McCain than Obama. The support for McCain here is staggering.
As for Chesterfield, Republicans dominate the Constitutional Offices--holding the Office of Sheriff, Commissioner of the Revenue, Treasurer, and the office of Clerk of Circuit Court. Additionally, the local Republican Delegation holds five out of seven House of Delegates Seats and both State Senate seats in the state legislature. Chesterfield County produced the highest number of net votes for the Bush/Cheney re-election campaign out of all Virginia counties during the 2004 Presidential Campaign. Mark Warner lost badly in Chesterfield in his run for U.S. Senate against John Warner in 1996 and Mark Warner lost Chesterfield County during his run for Virginia Governor in 2001. In fact, the Chester area of Chesterfield County has been the strongest Republican area of the county (on a per capita vote basis) for the last eleven years.
During local Board of Supervisors race in 2007 for Chesterfield County, in the Chester area, Democrat Governor Tim Kaine campaigned hard for Democratic Candidate Ree Hart against Republican Dorothy Jaeckle. The Republican majority easily defeated Tim Kaine and Democrat Ree Hart--sending Republican Dorothy Jaeckle onto victory in what was billed as an anti-Republican year. Why exactly is Tim Kaine having Obama visit a part of the state where Democrats routinely and historically get their asses kicked?
This area of the state, the southern Richmond suburbs, prospers under Republican leadership and the results show it. The voters of this area have rejected the social welfare programs and proposals of Obama, Tim Kaine, and Mark Warner time and time again (and for good measure). The voters of his area have a low crime rate because folks work hard and pay taxes without blaming others for their problems.
This area is home to many active duty Military Officers, Civl Servants (and retireees) who work at nearby Fort Lee, VA. How will the voters of Chesterfield, and Chester in particular, react to an appearance by Barack Hussein Obama WHO IS THE SAME MAN WHO VOTED TO CUT OFF FUNDING COMBAT TROOPS IN IRAQ?
Welcome to the real Conservative country Mr. Barack Hussein Obama--an area where folks openly embrace God and Country without bitterly clinging to them due to a dearth of fun filled secular activites like they have in Islamic dominated Indonesia, the celebrity retreat of Hawaii, and the boss run, Daley Centric, Political Boss driven town of Chicago.
In advance of your appearances in Chester and Chesapeake tomorrow, welcome to the 4th
Congressional District of Virginia Mr. Obama--and thank you for visiting the most Republican areas of this Congressional District. We know to beat political losers when we see 'em--just ask Mark Warner and Tim Kaine.
The 4th Congressional District will return J. Randy Forbes to the House of Representatives--heck Obama is not even going to campaign with Andrea Miller--an African American lady who is the Democrat nominee for Congress in the 4th District. Obama, along with Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, have already thrown her candidacy under the bus by refusing to acknowledge her campaign to unseat Incumbent Republican Congressman J. Randy Forbes. During tomorrow's events, they aren't even going to allow her onstage or invite her to give comments on stage with them. How's that for Democratic Unity?
Obama is revving up the Republican base tomorrow. We've beaten Tim Kaine and Mark Warner before. Like these snake oil Democratic salesmen that came before you, we'll defeat you as well. Inshallah, Assalaam Alaikum.
In a sharp turnaround, Republican John McCain has opened a 5-point lead on Democrat Barack Obama in the U.S. presidential race and is seen as a stronger manager of the economy, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday...McCain leads Obama among likely U.S. voters by 46 percent to 41 percent, wiping out Obama's solid 7-point advantage in July and taking his first lead in the monthly Reuters/Zogby poll....The reversal follows a month of attacks by McCain, who has questioned Obama's experience, criticized his opposition to most new offshore oil drilling and mocked his overseas trip....The poll was taken Thursday through Saturday as Obama wrapped up a weeklong vacation in Hawaii that ceded the political spotlight to McCain, who seized on Russia's invasion of Georgia to emphasize his foreign policy views...."There is no doubt the campaign to discredit Obama is paying off for McCain right now," pollster John Zogby said. "This is a significant ebb for Obama."...McCain now has a 9-point edge, 49 percent to 40 percent, over Obama on the critical question of who would be the best manager of the economy -- an issue nearly half of voters said was their top concern in the November 4 presidential election.
That margin reversed Obama's 4-point edge last month on the economy over McCain, an Arizona senator and former Vietnam prisoner of war who has admitted a lack of economic expertise and shows far greater interest in foreign and military policy.
McCain has been on the offensive against Obama during the last month over energy concerns, with polls showing strong majorities supporting his call for an expansion of offshore oil drilling as gasoline prices hover near $4 a gallon....Obama had opposed new offshore drilling, but said recently he would support a limited expansion as part of a comprehensive energy program....That was one of several recent policy shifts for Obama, as he positions himself for the general election battle. But Zogby said the changes could be taking a toll on Obama's support, particularly among Democrats and self-described liberals...."That hairline difference between nuance and what appears to be flip-flopping is hurting him with liberal voters," Zogby said....Obama's support among Democrats fell 9 percentage points this month to 74 percent, while McCain has the backing of 81 percent of Republicans. Support for Obama, an Illinois senator, fell 12 percentage points among liberals, with 10 percent of liberals still undecided compared to 9 percent of conservatives...."Conservatives were supposed to be the bigger problem for McCain," Zogby said. "Obama still has work to do on his base. At this point McCain seems to be doing a better job with his."..The dip in support for Obama, who would be the first black U.S. president, cut across demographic and ideological lines. He slipped among Catholics, born-again Christians, women, independents and younger voters. He retained the support of more than 90 percent of black voters....."There were no wild swings, there isn't one group that is radically different than last month or even two months ago. It was just a steady decline for Obama across the board," Zogby said.
Obama's support among voters between the ages of 18 and 29, which had been one of his strengths, slipped 12 percentage points to 52 percent. McCain, who will turn 72 next week, was winning 40 percent of younger voters....."Those are not the numbers Obama needs to win," Zogby said about Americans under 30. The 47-year-old is counting on a strong turnout among young voters, a key bloc of support during his primary battle with New York Sen. Hillary Clinton

...but it DID pass the resolutions on such important matters as : National Funeral Director and Mortician Recognition Day, established July as National Watermelon Month and approved a decree the origins of the word "baseball." ....what do these people do? From the Wall Street Journal:
The 110th Congress, whose term officially ends in January, hasn't passed any spending bills or attacked high gasoline prices. But it has used its powers to celebrate watermelons and to decree the origins of the word "baseball."...Barring a burst of legislative activity after Labor Day, this group of 535 men and women will have accomplished a rare feat. In two decades of record keeping, no sitting Congress has passed fewer public laws at this point in the session -- 294 so far -- than this one. That's not to say they've been idle. On the flip side, no Congress in the same 20 years has been so prolific when it comes to proposing resolutions -- more than 1,900, according to a tally by the nonpartisan Taxpayers for Common Sense....With the mostly symbolic measures, Congress has saluted such milestones as the Idaho Potato Commission's 70th anniversary and recognized soil as an "essential natural resource." As legislation on gasoline prices, tax fixes and predatory lending languish, Congress has designated May 5-9 as National Substitute Teacher Recognition Week, and set July 28 as the Day of the American Cowboy....The resolutions, which generally don't carry the force of law, can originate in either the House or Senate. However, some types of resolutions establish the federal budget, authorize the president to go to war, or condemn actions such as the genocide in Darfur. Even among the 294 laws passed thus far, many were symbolic in nature. Many of the post offices named by this Congress honor servicemen and -women killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. In the 435-member House, fully one-quarter of the workweek is typically devoted to debating and passing symbolic measures.

..is the AXL led band even Guns and Roses anymore? At least we may have an album to judge that on soon and at Wal-Mart none-the-less... From Reuters:, finished" tracks from Guns N' Roses' long-delayed "Chinese Democracy" spurred a renewed round of speculation about whether the Axl Rose-led band will finally release the 14-years-in-the-making album....But some concrete signs are finally emerging that the album's release could be imminent. That's because, according to sources, negotiations are under way for "Chinese Democracy" to come out as an exclusive at one of the big-box retailers -- either Wal-Mart or Best Buy...Negotiations are also ongoing for conventional record company distribution, another source said.....Guns N' Roses is now managed by Irving Azoff's Front Line Management, and Azoff is a well-known proponent of issuing albums exclusively through retailers. He released the Eagles' "Long Road Out of Eden" through Wal-Mart, much to the chagrin of other merchants....It's unclear who initiated the Guns N' Roses exclusive negotiations -- Front Line or Interscope, the band's label.

From the Politico: Rep. Loretta Sanchez says she’s happy for the chance to vote for Hillary Rodham Clinton at the Democratic National Convention — and she predicts that as many as half of the Democrats in the House could join her. ...Just how many former Clinton supporters will vote for the former first lady during the symbolic first ballot is anybody’s guess, but each of them will be called upon to do so — whether they want to or not. ...On Friday, the Obama campaign confirmed that the floor vote in Denver, intended to assuage Clinton supporters still stewing over her narrow loss, will be conducted as a state-by-state roll call. Under proposed convention bylaws, delegates would be forced to register their votes on a tally sheet with the convention secretary — the rules could be altered or suspended before the start of the convention. ..“By putting her name in nomination, you're putting people on the spot,” said former delegate counter Matt Seyfang, adding a second potential drawback: “Having a roll call ... just chews into your broadcast time.” ...Lower-key options were available. For example, Clinton’s name could have been entered into nomination, followed by laudatory speeches, ending with her release of delegates to Obama and proposal that he be nomination by acclamation, Seyfang said.

Think what you want about President Bush but in a time when raising funds is as important as the message the candidates spew, "W" can still get the GOP base to open their checkbooks....From the AP:
President Bush's popularity has tanked, but boy can he still bring in the cash....He's raked in close to a billion dollars, the political fundraiser in chief, during his White House tenure....In all, Bush has personally raised more than $968 million for the Republican Party, GOP candidates and his own re-election campaign and inauguration during his two terms in office. And he's not finished....He's now lost a big part of the national spotlight to presidential contenders John McCain and Barack Obama, but he remains a formidable force on the fundraising circuit, mostly at private affairs closed to the media. His total so far this year is roughly $70 million....Bush spent 90 minutes recently at a California winery tucked in a hillside in Napa Valley to help wring $850,000 from deep-pocket donors. That's $9,444 a minute....Out of political expedience, McCain, the Republican presidential candidate, is generally keeping his distance - at least physically - from an unpopular incumbent who's burdened with war, soaring fuel prices and a sputtering economy....Bush embraced McCain as the party's next standard bearer in the Rose Garden in March, saying, "I can help raise him money, and if he wants my pretty face standing by his side at one of these rallies, I'd be glad to show up."

...but wearing a toga all day might be fun. From Reutuers:With the ruins of ancient Rome, the splendor of Vatican City and countless
Renaissance art treasures, what does Italy's capital lack to attract tourists?...The answer, according to the mayor's office, is a Disneyland-style theme park...."The model is Euro-Disney in Paris," said Deputy Mayor Mauro Cutrufo, announcing plans to build a vast ancient Rome theme park just outside the city which he says could be up and running within three to four years....The park would provide family-friendly attractions to show visitors what life was like in the Rome of 2,000 years ago....To be built on an as yet unspecified 400-500 hectare (1,000-1,200 acre) site, it would put a Roman twist on rides like Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean, in which visitors float on boats through a fantasy pirate world..."You would relive scenes from the Colosseum, from ancient Rome, gladiators or maybe Julius Caesar or other things," a Rome city official told Reuters.
Council chiefs in Birmingham were left red-faced when they mistakenly used a picture of their U.S. namesake in Alabama on thousands of official leaflets....Pamphlets about recycling in the West Midlands bore an image showing the skyline of the city in the Deep South....Under the headline "Thank You Birmingham!," the picture showed office blocks in the U.S. city, rather than its own distinctive Rotunda tower and the curvy Selfridges store....The council said it had made a mistake, but had no plans to recall the leaflets..."We accept that the wrong photo was used but the text and detail contained in the leaflet is wholly correct which is the most important message as we strive to further improve our green credentials," the council said Thursday.
One was from Estonia for God sakes!!! From the AP:
Just six illegal immigrants volunteered to leave the United States in the first week of a pilot program inviting nearly a half-million people to self-deport, federal officials said....The six who signed up by Wednesday evening included an Estonian in Phoenix, a married Indian couple and a Guatemalan in Chicago, a Salvadoran in Charlotte, N.C., and a Mexican in San Diego, said Virginia Kice, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement program in San Diego....Program participants get three months to wrap up their personal affairs and peace of mind that agents won't raid their homes. It's a less disruptive option than arrest and jailing by immigration agents that track fugitives at homes or workplaces, officials said....More than 450,000 illegal immigrants who lack criminal records but have ignored court orders to leave the country are eligible. It is available in five cities so far: Santa Ana, Calif., San Diego, Chicago, Phoenix and Charlotte, N.C...ICE said the program will be evaluated once it ends Aug. 22 to decide whether it has any future, but critics have snickered at the idea...."I feel like its 'success' rate speaks for itself," said Jennifer Allen, executive director of the Tucson-based immigrant rights advocacy group Border Action Network. She said the number of immigrants that volunteered "speaks to its utility and relevance."
I thought tabloid papers were like all made up? This Edwards mess has given some credibility to the Enquirer for God's sake....maybe those alien baby's and wolf boys really do exist. I can't believe I'm actually typing this BUT from the national Enquirer and New York Post:
...The National Enquirer got stuff piled up on the future very private citizen John Edwards. ..... Not only are they on the case 10 months, but they've had PIs on the case for months. Executive Editor Barry Levine tells me, "Although, as you've probably read, our organization, American Media, is under the gun, they have nevertheless devoted really big money to this."...Levine claims the huge sum they've spent on this story is only a spit to "the enormous amounts we know Edwards is spending to keep it contained. But he can't. We've followed the money trail. He bought her [Rielle Hunter] a $1 million house in North Carolina. Few days before our headlines forced him to go public, he spent $150,000 just on a private plane to whisk her to some undisclosed place. She was moved in the middle of the night. Lots of money is being spent to keep her happy and away from the media. ...."We have exclusive photographic evidence, pictures, videos, hard proof to further incriminate Edwards. He doesn't at this point know what we have, which is why I'm asking that we don't reveal too much yet. And which we will use unless and until he acknowledges paternity. ..."She believes they'll be together in future because Elizabeth's health concerns make it just a matter of time. Whatever he's said, in her mind the clock is running. We know this. ..."Although Edwards has this loyalist Andrew Young trying to claim it's really his baby in order to take the heat off Edwards, we know that's false. Young brought his wife and children to visit this lady Rielle Hunter. Now, nobody brings his wife and kids to have a nice social meeting with his mistress. It's ridiculous. ..."For now, she's following whatever script he's written for her. She's saying what she's told to say. Keeping her mouth shut. John Edwards and Rielle are in steady contact. Who knows, but as things go along, she may tire of the game. And we'll be ready.

Will "what's you carbon foot preint?" replace "What's your sign?"...(okay I know no one usines the "what's your sign ?" line butyou come up with a better quip then? From Seattle Post-Intelligencer:
Maybe it's just me, but it seems as if everybody's trying to out-green one another these days. A woman I was talking to at a restaurant the other night said she's even using Seventh Generation diapers for her baby. I don't know about you, but that seems like one really old diaper.....But such is the pressure to reduce, reuse and recycle...As an apartment-dwelling single with nary a dependent, I can't brag about how I use cardboard diapers for my kids. Nor can I point to the energy-efficient appliances I've purchased for my solar-powered yurt, or wax sanctimonious about my backyard worm bin (I'd install one in the kitchen but my lease says no pets)....But I can do one thing to keep from being completely left in the eco-dust. It's called green dating....Green dating officially got its start about five years ago, around the same time niche sites like LargeFriends.com and EquestrianSingles.com began cropping up faster than recycling ordinances in the city of Seattle....GreenSingles.com, a personal-connection site for people in the environmental, vegetarian and animal-rights communities, probably has been around the longest, hooking up singles who share a "global consciousness influenced by holistic philosophies, green politics and a willingness to explore the mind, body and spirit" (i.e., tree-huggers looking for love) since 1985.
The DEMS will do anything for apperances - the will placce Hillary's name formally into nomination at the Democratic convention
They label it a tribute(why would you honor a loser...they lost.) How does this serve their party and will the Clinton's do anything to hold onto the limelight a second longer? This is weird and dangerous precodent to set. From the Herald Tribune:
Her name will not be on the general election ballot this fall, but Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential candidacy will receive one final tribute when her name is formally placed into nomination at the Democratic convention....The symbolic move, announced Thursday in a joint statement with Senator Barack Obama, is intended to soothe a lingering rift with Clinton supporters and to unify the party. With Clinton scheduled to deliver a prime-time speech in Denver, a state-by-state roll call vote increases her time in the convention spotlight...."I am convinced that honoring Senator Clinton's historic campaign in this way will help us celebrate this defining moment in our history and bring the party together in a strong united fashion," Obama said in a statement....The decision was brokered after long negotiations by advisers to both senators, with Obama ultimately signing off on the plan on Wednesday. The former rivals never spoke directly about the matter, but advisers said Obama encouraged Clinton to agree to place her name into nomination as a nod to the historic nature of her candidacy.
From the AP:
John McCain raised $27 million in July, his largest one-month fundraising haul since clinching the Republican presidential nomination, while the Republican National Committee brought in nearly $26 million. ..The GOP nominee-in-waiting had $21 million available to spend as August began, while the national party began the month with $75 million to compete with the Democrats...Republicans are looking to even out the financial playing field in this campaign, having trailed Democrats in overall fundraising for most of the election cycle. The disparity reflects the enthusiasm among Democrats that's lacking among the GOP....McCain has agreed to accept some $84 million in public financing for the general election, the only money he can spend after formally accepting his party's nomination at the convention in early September. He essentially needs to drain down his campaign bank account this month

From the Economist:
'Western leaders must make quite clear their outrage over the invasion and continued bombing of Georgia. Few have done that so far; the Italians and Germans in particular have been shamefully silent. Above all, the West must make plain to Mr Putin that Russia's invasion of Georgia means an end to business as usual, even if it continues to work with him on issues such as Iran. America has already cancelled some military exercises with Russia. America and the Europeans should ensure that Russia is not let into more international clubs, such as the Paris-based OECD or the World Trade Organisation. Now would also be an appropriate time to strengthen the rich-country G7, which excludes Russia, at the expense of the G8, which includes it....'The European Union, which has too often split into camps of appeasers and tough-talkers over Russia, should drop negotiations on a new partnership and co-operation agreement. Visa restrictions should be tightened, and the personal finances abroad of top Russian officials probed more carefully. The EU should work harder at reducing its dependence on Russian energy imports and improving internal energy connections-and EU countries should stop striking bilateral deals with Russia.'
Musharraf, Facing Impeachment, Likely To Step Down Within Days, Officials Say: 'ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Aug. 14 -- Faced with mounting pressure from former political allies and dwindling support from his international backers, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, once a top U.S. ally, is expected to resign in the next few days, according to Pakistani officials. A week after leaders of the ruling coalition said they planned to impeach Musharraf, the capital was abuzz with speculation that he would step down before formal impeachment charges are filed in Parliament on Monday....'Musharraf, who seized power in a military coup nine years ago, has survived at least two assassination attempts. But his opponents said Thursday that he was unlikely to withstand the current challenge to his presidency. Musharraf has said he has no plans to leave Pakistan, although some analysts and political associates have suggested he could take up residence in Turkey, where he spent several years of his childhood.'
From the AP: --
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Friday that a proposed cease-fire she wants Georgia to sign with Russia protects Georgia's interests despite concessions to Moscow. On her way to Tbilisi with the document, Rice said the immediate goal is to get Russian combat forces out of Georgia and more difficult questions about the status of the country's separatist regions and Russia's presence there can be addressed later.

From One News Now and the American Center for Law & Justice:
A number of Muslim nations have taken a resolution to the United Nations that would prohibit defamation of a religion -- theirs....Dozens of Muslim-dominated countries want protection. Jay Sekulow of the American Center for Law & Justice explains what that entails. "They've put forward what's called a '[Combating] Defamation of Religions' resolution which would amend the U.N.'s Declaration of Human Rights and would make it a criminal act and violation of international law to 'defame another religion,'" he explains....Sekulow points out the resolution, put forward by the Organization of the Islamic Conference, only mentions one religion by name: Islam. "[S]o there's nothing about preventing the defamation of Christianity," the attorney warns, "which means if you were spreading the gospel, it would be deemed defamatory towards Islam and would be [considered] a crime."...According to Sekulow, that is similar to the tactic used by homosexual activists in Canada and Europe to silence Christians. "Actually it's right out of the same playbook," he states. "They're using this 'Islamaphobia' issue to promote a reinterpretation of human rights law across the board."..."If you look at the resolution," he continues, "it would literally change the entire scope of human rights law on an international basis. They would encourage [all other nations] -- after the resolution is passed by the member states, which are all the countries in the U.N -- to pass laws that would mandate [that] you could not speak out against another religion. In this case, it's Islam."...An ACLJ team of lawyers will go to Europe in September to lobby against the proposal. A petition on the ACLJ website gives Americans a chance to sign onto the campaign against it.
Just received this breakdown of the tax increase under the Obama Regime today from a reliable source and also re "fact checked" it through snopes(the source that the author used).... and it will effect us all. Breaking the numbers down shows that we will all be disproportionatelt taxed no matter what tax bracket you are in and that this tax burden will ruin the US economy and the liberals contune to move us closer to a socialistic/marxist nation:
Barrack will tax capital gains, somewhere between 20 percent and 28 percent. In political rhetoric, that means 28% on profit from all home sales. If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your profit in taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from the sale of your home will go to taxes. This proposal will allow the elderly to also help out with government spending. The current rate is 15%.
Change the dividend tax from 15% to 28%. If you have any money invested in the stock market, IRAs, mutual funds, 401Ks, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will be contributing nearly 30% of the money earned in taxes. Obama supporters guarantee this Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains will not crash the stock market as some experts predict.
Modest increases in the income taxes will not overly burden the citizens who support Obama and those other citizens who need to support the various new Obama government programs. By allowing the current “Bush tax cuts” to expire the following increases will occur. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reed will insure that Obama lets them ALL expire:
Single making 30K will pay $8,400 versus the current $4,500......a $3,900 increase
Single making 50K will pay $14,000 versus the current $12,500....a $1,500 increase
Single making 75K will pay $23,250 versus the current $18,750....a $4,500 increase
Married making 60K will pay $16,800 versus the current $9,000....a $7,800 increase
Married making 75K will pay $21,000 versus the current $18,750...a $2,250 increase
Married making 125K will pay $38,750 versus the current $31,250..a $7,500 increase
The estate tax, levied a 55% maximum tax rate on all inherited assets above a $1 million exemption, will be restored so that businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been in a family for generations can contribute their “fair share” to fund urgent needs of Obama’s new government programs. "Willed assets" and gifts to your grand children can also contribute to the government causes.
New, additional taxes will also help.......... Through his aggressive “cap-and-trade” system to reduce carbon emissions large costs which will imposed on industries burning coal, gas or oil and as these costs are passed on to us, the consumers, there will be new taxes on: homes that are more than 2400 square feet...on gasoline.....heating oil & gas........water.........electricity.
There will also be some other new taxes to pay for our new Nationalized Health Care System for all citizens and non-citizens who have come to or are coming to our shores.
One of the best blogs in Chesterfield county (if not the state of Virgina) is Altar of Freedom and although we don't always agree, his insights are always well thought out and complete and always worth a read (or two.) So with that in mind, I point you to his last post call "My First Presidential" Election http://alteroffreedom.blogspot.com/2008/08/my-first-presidential-election.html since it is a great post and parallels my own conservative conversion as a kid coming of age during the Reagan years (as it would most late 30's Republicans....
Obama Campaign thinks McCain condemning Russia's attacking of Georgia 'may or may not have complicated the situation....nice non response Barrack
From CNN: CNN.com:
'On Tuesday, Randy Scheunemann, McCain's top foreign policy adviser, attacked the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee's response to the situation in Georgia, saying his experience with the region amounted to a handful of paper statements. ... Susan Rice, Obama's senior foreign policy adviser, said [on MSNBC] Tuesday that McCain's comments condemning Russia 'may or may not have complicated the situation.'
"may or may not have complicated the situation." Nice non-response from the Obama campaign.
From the London article, 'Bush squares up to Putin,' commentary , 'Echo of Cold War as US flexes its muscles.' :
President Bush dispatched US military hardware to the heart of the Caucasus yesterday and warned Russia that it could be frozen out of international bodies as punishment for its aggression in Georgia. ...In his toughest criticism of Russia since becoming President, Mr Bush accused it of breaching the provisional ceasefire agreed with Georgia only 24 hours earlier. ...He cited intelligence showing that Russian troops had again taken the town of Gori and could threaten the capital, Tbilisi. He insisted that Moscow respect the former Soviet republic’s territorial integrity. There were also reports of Russian-backed militia in South Ossetia looting ethnic Georgian villages and killing inhabitants.

From the Wall Street Journal Op/Ed by John McCain: 'We Are All Georgians,' :
'Georgia remains in line for alliance membership, and I hope NATO will move ahead with a membership track for both Georgia and Ukraine. At the same time, we must make clear to Russia's leaders that the benefits they enjoy from being part of the civilized world require their respect for the values, stability and peace of that world. ... As I told President Saakashvili on the day the cease-fire was declared, today we are all Georgians.'
From the AP: 'At least five explosions have been heard near Gori as a Russian withdrawal from the key Georgian city appears to have broken down. It could not immediately determined if the blasts were renewed fighting between Georgian and Russian forces. They sounded similar to mortar shells and occurred not long after a tense confrontation between Russian and Georgian troops on the edge of the city on Thursday.'

Growing up in Iowa there was a man I once truly respected and one of the reason I became a Republican in the first place, and he just screwed me over and sold me out. Former Iowa Rep Jim Leach just turned his back on Republican Party, his state of Iowa and the United states by endorsing Barrack Obama and his lie of evoking an era of change and non-partisanship.....I'm really pissed off about this Jim, do you have any conservative ideals left? From Bloomberg:
Iowa Republican Leach, Ex-House Member, Backs Democrat Obama --- -- Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, picked up the endorsement today of former Republican Representative Jim Leach of Iowa, an important state in the general election. ...``I also have no doubt that a lot of Republicans and independents are going to be attracted to his call for a new era of non-ideological, bipartisan decision-making,'' Leach, a former chairman of the House Banking Committee, said on a conference call with reporters. ....Iowa voters backed Democrat Al Gore in 2000, Republican George W. Bush in 2004, and the state is up for grabs again this year. Between June 3 and July 26, Republican presidential candidate John McCain spent $946,000 on television ads in the state, and Obama spent $700,000, according to a study by the University of Wisconsin. ....Also on the conference call to announce Republicans for Obama was former U.S. Senator Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island. ....Leach and Chafee lost their seats in 2006 as the Democrats recaptured control of both houses of Congress. ...
There is no such thing as "Republicans for Obama" since there is no way you can be a Republican and vote for Obama. Obama is one of the most extreme leftist to ever run for President an anyone that is even remotely "right-to-center" would see that he opposes everything that they stand for..... this election is at a pivotal time in American history, we can stand up for American and what made it great or vote for the systematic socialization of our country (and the implementation of the re-distribution of wealth policies that rings true of late era communism) that will lead to our downfall...and that will be an arduous obstacle to fix once it is in place.
From the Star Tribune political blog:
Continuing her push for a comprehensive energy plan that includes increased oil drilling, Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., reminded Americans that the Democrats message to save the planet doesn’t add up. The world has been saved already, she says....Responding to Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s comment about creating an energy policy to help save the planet, Bachmann added religion to the energy crisis during her interview with OneNewsNow, a Web site run by Christian American Family News Network....“[Pelosi] is committed to her global warming fanaticism to the point where she has said that she’s just trying to save the planet,” Bachmann said. “We all know that someone did that over 2,000 years ago, they saved the planet — we didn’t need Nancy Pelosi to do that.”...Bachmann said Democratic leaders are committed to stopping bills that allow drilling. Bachmann plans to join other Republicans in the House chamber on Friday to continue their protest during the congressional recess to bring members back for a vote on an energy bill....The Minnesota DFL released a statement Tuesday denouncing the protest at the Capitol, calling it an “Olympics of meaningless rhetoric....According to the statement, Republicans “would rather grandstand in a meaningless charade in Washington that will do nothing to reduce the cost of gas or the overall economic squeeze on Minnesota’s working families.”

Now that Russia has humiliated Georgia with a punishing military offensive, it may shift its attention to reining in pro-Western Ukraine, another American ally in the former Soviet Union. ...Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's first order of business likely will be to try to thwart Ukraine's bid to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. ...``The Moscow authorities will use this opportunity to remind Ukraine of the damages of allying itself with NATO,'' said Geoffrey Smith at Renaissance Capital investment bank in Kiev. ...The U.S. has long seen Georgia and Ukraine as counterweights to Russia's influence in the region. Opposition leaders in the two countries came to power after U.S.-backed popular protests in 2003 and 2004. Their ascension advanced an American strategy of expanding NATO to include both countries and securing energy routes from the Caspian Sea that bypass Russia. The BP Plc-led Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline to Turkey runs through Georgia. ...The future effectiveness of that policy is now in doubt, with Georgia's U.S.-educated president, Mikheil Saakashvili, 40, weakened by a five-day blitz that his American patrons were powerless to halt.
From Business and Media dot org:
There’s a huge concern among conservative talk radio hosts that reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine would all-but destroy the industry due to equal time constraints. But speech limits might not stop at radio. They could even be extended to include the Internet and “government dictating content policy.”...FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell raised that as a possibility after talking with bloggers at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C. McDowell spoke about a recent FCC vote to bar Comcast from engaging in certain Internet practices – expanding the federal agency’s oversight of Internet networks. ...The commissioner, a 2006 President Bush appointee, told the Business & Media Institute the Fairness Doctrine could be intertwined with the net neutrality battle. The result might end with the government regulating content on the Web, he warned. McDowell, who was against reprimanding Comcast, said the net neutrality effort could win the support of “a few isolated conservatives” who may not fully realize the long-term effects of government regulation.....“I think the fear is that somehow large corporations will censor their content, their points of view, right,” McDowell said. “I think the bigger concern for them should be if you have government dictating content policy, which by the way would have a big First Amendment problem.” .... “Then, whoever is in charge of government is going to determine what is fair, under a so-called ‘Fairness Doctrine,’ which won’t be called that – it’ll be called something else,” McDowell said. “So, will Web sites, will bloggers have to give equal time or equal space on their Web site to opposing views rather than letting the marketplace of ideas determine that?”

Swimming sensation Michael Phelps has an Olympic recipe for success - and it involves eating a staggering 12,000 calories a day. ..."Eat, sleep and swim. That's all I can do," Phelps, who won two more gold medals today, told NBC when asked what he needs to win medals. "Get some calories into my system and try to recover the best I can." ...By comparison, the average man of the same age needs to ingest about 2,000 calories a day. ....Phelps, 23, will swim 17 times over nine days of competition at the Beijing Games - meaning that he will need all the calories he can shovel in his mouth in order to keep his energy levels high.

This is the size of the hole that Obama plans on ripping out of taxpayers wallets once in office. Some call it the Obama salute. Don't take it laying down!! Why is Mark Warner supporting Obama again?
...Charging the soilders baggage fees when they are fighting to keep terrorists from using the planes as bombs (American airlines non-the-less) is deplorable.....From the Washington Times:
American Airlines is charging troops for their extra baggage, a practice that forces soldiers heading for a war zone in Iraq to try to get reimbursement from the military. One of the country's largest veterans groups is asking the aviation industry to drop the practice immediately. ...American, which recently charged two soldiers from Texas $100 and $300 for their extra duffel bags, said it gives the military a break on the cost for excess luggage and that the soldiers who incur the fees are reimbursed. ..."Because the soldiers don't pay a dime, our waiver of the fees amounts to a discount to the military, not a discount to soldiers," said Tim Wagner, spokesman for American Airlines. "Soldiers should not have to pay a penny of it." ...Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) spokesman Joseph Davis said service members destined for Iraq should not have to spend the money out of pocket and should not have to worry about filing expense forms in a war zone. ..."That's a lot to ask when the service member has much more important things on their minds, such as staying alive and keeping those around them alive," he said.
The VFW is asking the Air Transport Association (ATA) to urge member airlines to exempt military personnel traveling on official orders from all excess-baggage fees. "This should not be a very difficult decision to make," Mr. Davis said. ..US Airways allows military personnel with identification free luggage up to 100 pounds, and Delta allows two bags up to 70 pounds in the cargo hold, as does Northwest. ...When soldiers receive their travel orders, they should make sure that excess baggage is authorized and that soldiers can be reimbursed for additional fees that airlines impose, said Army spokesman Paul Boyce. .."We can help them with additional expenses for travel, but soldiers have to submit a receipt and it has to be looked at by our finance people," Mr. Boyce said.
