Speaker Howell finally lands a punch on Jeff & Amy Frederick

Posted by MAXIMUS

Regarding the title: rhetorically, not literally. Bad blood between politicians ends up with these folks duking it out on the electoral playing field in a Darwinian struggle of the survival of the fittest to see whose legacy is strongest to seed an effort to sire or spawn a new politician for elected office. In this case the battle between Speaker Bill Howell and Jeff and Amy Frederick simmered in the 64th GOP nomination contest for the House of Delegates Seat currently held by Democrat Bill Barlow.

After Jeff Frederick lacked the spine and balls to criticize Speaker Howell directly for supporting John Hager over Jeff Frederick for Chairman of the VA GOP last year, Jeff Frederick had his wife Amy send out an banshee email release that was damningly critical of Speaker Howell. Ergo, this year Amy Frederick decides not to run for the GOP nomination to replace her husband and she tares another page out of the banshee script and attacks the House GOP Leadership in the process---again.

The Speaker and Jeff Frederick were looking to engage in an all out electoral street brawl to settle the question between the two: Whose the Hero and whose the Zero? Finally, the electoral fight came last Saturday between the Speaker and Jeff Frederick--a proxy fight to be sure.

What does Speaker Howell do? The Speaker, along with Delegates Chris Jones, Portsmouth GOP Chairman Brian Meals, Suffolk GOP Chairman Steve Trent, and Isle of Wight GOP Chairman Mrs. Morris (RPV's unit Chairman of the year from 2008) lined up in early support of Stan Clark for the GOP nomination contest in the 64th House of Delegates GOP. Clark is a two term incumbent on the Isle of Wight Board of Supervisors and a Conservative on the Board of Supervisors. Clark had the early support of the grassroots republicans in the legislative district that Frederick thought were in lock step with him. Clark is a country lawyer who will present a formidable race to the incumbent Democratic Delegate Bill Barlow this fall.

What does Jeff Frederick do? J-FRED, along with Gerry Scimeca (former RPV Director of Communications--ousted from this position when J-FRED was ousted from RPV Chairman) saddled up in support of John Holly for the GOP nomination in the 64th. John Holly is a worker at the Newport News Shipyard and a college student but he is not really known in the community.

The fight. Reports indicate that J-FRED and Scimeca were working the grassroots game for Holly. Clark reports that J-FRED donated money and strategic grassroots prowess for Holly's mail pieces, robo calls, etc. in an effort to ID and turn out supporters for Holly during the GOP nomination contest that was held last Saturday in the 64th HOD District. Scimeca was observed working the polls for Holly during last Saturday's firehouse primary in Williamsburg. For those that don't know the boundaries of the 64th HOD District, it's part of James City County, the City of Williamsburg, Isle of Wight County, the City of Franklin and part of Southamton County. The District is split by the James River---it was "ferrymandered" by Speaker Vance Wilkins to put former Democratic Delegate Grayson from Williamsburg into the same HOD District as Democratic Delegate Barlow. Grayson, a liberal professor who taught at William and Mary, ceded the seat to the senior Barlow.

Back to point. During last Saturday's firehouse primary between Clark and Holly, Clark prevailed with 52% of the vote to 48% of the vote. The Speaker finally landed a punch on Jeff Frederick and beat him on the electoral playing field. Stan Clark, Speaker Howell's candidate, and the candidate of the GOP Chairmen from the southern portion of the district--south of the James River--defeated John Holly--Jeff Frederick's candidate.

So, in the latest electoral battle between the Speaker and aligned GOP grassroots versus J-FRED and his grassroots elements, the Speaker has finally landed a punch on J-FRED and defeated his candidate Holly in a GOP nomination contest. Speaker Howell's message to Frederick in this victory? Stay the hell in your District and keep your ass out of southeastern Virginia. You, and your wife, are both punks.

Let me see...Howell wins because he gets another moderate nominated for the republicans.

You're the moderate. Shall I support that? Do you really want me to release what I have on you?

This is the dumbest thing I have read yet, just more desperate attacks against Jeff. I knew Holly and he didn’t even know who Jeff was, he was completely oblivious to insider Virginia politics. The only truth here is Jerrys involvement , and that came only after a friend of Holly’s appealed to him to help a fellow conservative. It’s pretty petty to say this was about Jeff vs. Howell, the race was about Stan vs. Holly, and now it looks like Stan just might take Barlow out.
