Hank Williams sang it best on "Family Tradition." Rusty McGuire's "Family Tradition" is Military Service to the United States Military. How so? While campaigning door to door for the Republican Nomination for the 55th House of Delegates seat in the Hanover based District, McGuire knocked on the door of an elderly voter. Recognizing the McGuire name, this voter presented Rusty McGuire with a World War II era newspaper clipping from a local paper that highlighted the story of Rusty McGuire's grandfather who served in the military concurrently with several of his brothers--all at the same time. The voter gave the clipping to McGuire. The story ran on the local ABC affiliate, WRIC TV 8, in Richmond, VA over the Memorial Day weekend. Rusty McGuire, a veteran of the Iraqi War, has a proud Family Tradition indeed. Below is the link. What a story!

Left out of the piece but nonetheless interesting -- his brother, John McGuire, is a former Navy SEAL and founder of SEAL Team Physical Training, the folks in dark blue shirts you see doing pushups all around town at 5:45 in the morning.
