The senior policy advisor for the Committee For A Constructive Tomorrow is concerned that Obama's new energy/environmental team will institute policies akin to the sort of remedy that killed America's first president....Paul Driessen of CFACT says the appointment of Steven Chu as energy secretary, Lisa Jackson as Environmental Protection Agency administrator, and Carol Browner as climate czar is troubling in that they all adhere to the belief that manmade carbon emissions are driving "global warming."....He believes that this team, along with Congress, will push aggressively to create "green jobs" and put harsh restrictions or even eliminate industries that depend on hydrocarbon-based energy. Chu has even stated that when it comes to climate change, coal is the problem and that it needs to be eliminated....Driessen compares that approach with the old practice of blood-letting. He explains that in 1799 George Washington was killed by that practice when his physicians drained a substantial amount of his blood, trying to cure malaria and a sore throat. His physicians improperly thought that his blood was the problem....."So now we are looking at our hydrocarbons, which are the life blood of the American economy, and trying to do blood-letting on a massive scale amounting to a quart or more of blood from a human being, and getting rid of that because it has what some people think are the impurities of carbon dioxide that causes global warming," says Driessen.
