FEC Fine to Kanjorski's Laundry List of Questionable Practices

Below is a press release from The National Republican Congressional Committee about the FEC fiasco of non-enforcement againstPaul Kanjorski

FEC Fiasco: Kanjorski Gets Slapped with Fine
Kanjorski’s Cornerstone of Corruption Adds FEC Fine to His Laundry List of Questionable Practices

Washington- Paul Kanjorski (PA-11) has earned a reputation for being more than just a repeat offender when it comes to skirting the Federal Elections Commission’s (FEC) guidelines over the years. Kanjorski’s latest set of infractions caused the FEC to fine him for failing to file timely reports on campaign contributions and expenditures.

“A $900 fine was levied against Citizens for Action, a political action committee affiliated with U.S. Rep. Paul E. Kanjorski, D-11. Citizens for Action is a leadership PAC, a committee affiliated with a member of Congress that accepts donations, largely from special interest groups, and makes contributions to support other candidates.” (Standard Speaker 02/27/08)

The story also note that just as Kanjorski has tied himself to his nephew's company, Cornerstone Technologies, by questionably earmarking millions of dollars of taxpayer money for a company that later went bankrupt, Kanjorski is also making his campaign committee a family business:

“Since 2006, Peter A. Kanjorski has been paid $44,666 for consulting fees and travel expenses by his uncle’s leadership PAC, FEC records show. The congressman’s wife is the volunteer treasurer for the PAC.” (Standard Speaker 02/27/08)

When it comes to playing by the rules and abiding by campaign finance laws, Paul Kanjorski has failed miserably. His FEC fiasco goes hand-in-hand with his questionable earmarking practices that once landed him in the midst of an FBI investigation.

“If Paul Kanjorski and his Democrat friends in Washington want to run a campaign based on integrity and ethics, his challenge is certainly welcomed,” said NRCC Spokesman Ken Spain. “Paul Kanjorski is on the run not just because he has supported a record of higher taxes and broken borders, but also because he has come to exemplify business as usual in Washington. Pennsylvania voters want change and Paul Kanjorski is offering nothing more than the status quo.”
