Chesterfield's turnout slightly higher than last November’s general election

"Democrats outnumbered Republicans today even in Chesterfield County, one of the GOP’s reliable party strongholds in Virginia.

“There are probably a lot of Republicans voting in the Democratic primary today,” joked Chesterfield Registrar Larry Haake.

The early turnout in Chesterfield was slightly higher than last November’s general election, which Haake said was lower than normal, despite state legislative and local supervisor races.

“It was a significant morning rush,” he said."
