38 days until the Iowa Caucus

38 days until the Iowa caucus and things are beginning to get crazy out there. Last week the ABC News-Washington Post poll of Democrat Presidential Candidates show Obama surging ahead of Clinton in Iowa and that the Caucus has turned into a crap shoot and may impact Clinton Nationally as the “inevitable” Democrat nominee, let alone the next President. On the Republican side, Rudy is starting to take Mitt Romney’s campaign more seriously as he is turning his attention away from Hillary and attacking Mitt on what he sees as inconsistencies in the Romney platform. Mitt Romney is running strong in Iowa and New Hampshire (with Mike Huckabee ‘s numbers surging) and with Romney’s spending habits so far in these two important states needs to be taken more serious than any other candidate by Giuliani. Iowans take their job as the first test for candidates seriously and even with other states wanting to crowd their style, will still work hard to show their support for each party’s nominee. This is going to be the craziest election cycle in the history of the US and look for the polls to go nutty as we enter the minus 1 month mark in 8 days. The ABC News-Washington Post poll clearly shows that when the candidates actually spend time in the state to explain their position, Iowans are receptive (as with the surging numbers of Obama and Huckabee) and with adjust accordingly. Being a native Iowan, I would be surprised if we don’t see some strange happenings and expect Mitt Romney and Barrack Obama to come out the victors and carry that momentum into New Hampshire.
